While walking beside the Alaska Highway south of Whitehorse, Laurent Avril happened upon this 1942 ration tin. Given ongoing road improvements, it’s a miracle the tin was not buried in the decades since it was discarded. It is a World War 2 B Unit C-ration containing the standard weekly allocation to troops: hard candies, biscuits and sugar cubes, and a small tin that probably contains coffee.
