the role women played in the construction years
For the Alaska Highway 50th Anniversary celebration The OptiMSt, a Whitehorse newspaper written by women about women’s issues, published an issue highlighting the role women played in the construction years of the Alaska Highway. This article entitled "Men sought entertainment, companionship and sex" by Sande Copeland, discusses the social implications on women of importing thousands of men to a sparsely populated area.
