During the highway construction in 1942-1943 all available means of transportation were used to supply the road builders. When sections of the newly constructed pioneer road washed out between Whitehorse and the Alaska border in the spring of 1943, material was shipped on the Yukon River to Eagle, Alaska by barge, then by road to Fairbanks. The photograph was taken en route in Dawson City. 1943.
