Photo of the U.S. maintenance shops at MacRae, nine miles south of Whitehorse city centre. A caption on the back of the photograph reads: "Alcan Highway runs between each set of two buildings. Steam from White Pass Train behind Heavy Equipment Shop and Tire Shop. W.H. (Whitehorse) is in Lewes R. valley where ink dot is. View looks northeasterly." The importance of MacRae as a maintenance centre for the Alaska Highway remained for many years. 1945.
