Canadian "Public Relations Officer" at work!... Major Nixon
Major A.C. Nixon came to Canada from England as a new member of the Royal North West Mounted Police in 1921. He served in the Canadian Army from 1940 to 1945. From January to October 1944 Major Nixon was a Canadian representative on the joint U.S.-Canadian Alaska Highway Traffic Control Board with headquarters in Whitehorse. He also served as an Aide to Major General Foster. Major Nixon’s collection features wonderful snapshots of social functions and leisure times, including men goofing around in the barracks. The following images are selected from the collection of photographs and newspaper articles that Mr. Nixon donated to Yukon Archives.
