Pilot Les Cook with Northern Airways CF-BDZ at Fort Selkirk, ca. 1930s. Mr. Cook was given a contract with the American Army after helping Brigadier General William M. Hoge determine the route of the Alaska Highway between Lower Post, B.C. and Teslin, Yukon. He was decorated after flying an emergency medical mission to the Donjek River camp. He was killed in early December, 1942, when his plane crashed in Whitehorse.
