White Pass and Yukon Route Railway
The White Pass and Yukon Route Railway, connecting with coastal boats at Skagway and river boats at Whitehorse, provided an essential transportation link to the "outside". It was the only link that Yukoners had until airlines established regular flights to Vancouver and Edmonton in the 1930s. Many non-residents left the Yukon in October, returning in May when riverboat traffic resumed. 1918.
